Embrace Your Life and Draw It

Yesterday afternoon, I sat down at the kitchen table, picked up a pen and paper and for no particular reason at all…
I started sketching what was in front of me… my mom’s camera.

Earlier that day, I had stumbled upon a very cool blog

Sustainably Creative is a blog about…

…showing people that it is possible to stay creative even when energy is in short supply, and how working on small creative acts on a regular basis can build over time into a substantial body of work (and a creative career).

The Author, Michael Nobbs, is an Artist living with ME/CFS and he writes about
keeping life and Art simple through small acts done daily.

Start to Draw Your Life is an eBook he wrote about embracing all of the little things in life and capturing them through drawings.  And it doesn’t matter if you can draw well.
(You can download the book here)

Put on a pot of tea.  While you’re waiting, draw the teapot.

After you’ve enjoyed your tea, draw the tea-cup.

Get all washed up and dressed for the day.  Comb your hair. Now draw the comb.

It doesn’t matter what you draw… just draw the things in your life as you see it.
Don’t wait for the perfect time or the right picturesque setting.
Everything in your life is perfect and unique just the way it is.
So, embrace it.  Draw it.

Needless to say, this exercise inspired me.
One simple act got me focused on one thing for a few minutes.  That’s a big deal for me.

Imagine making that a habit.
Imagine what else could be accomplished.

So, stop by Sustainably Creative and get inspired.
And then draw something and tell me about it…
